Description

WatchMan™ is a distributed multi-detector RF monitoring solution, built to identify and detect cell phones, Wi-Fi hotspots, access points and Bluetooth/BLE within secure locations, allowing constant automated signal monitoring in your facility.

Why security teams choose Watchman

  • Constant, automated monitoring. Detectors networked to a central console watch your facility around the clock.
  • Finds idle phones too. Detects registration signals, so switched-on phones are found even when they are not making a call.
  • Real-time alerts with detail. Reports the date, time, duration, cell ID/location and frequency band of each detection, and even the network operator in selected territories.
  • Directs your search teams. Shows where and when to deploy staff with a Hunter™ handheld detector.
  • Future-proof. Software-based, so new phone bands can be added with updates by email, Ethernet, web browser or USB drive.

Applications

  • Correctional facilities: a detailed picture of illegal phone use.
  • Secure locations: constant monitoring for phones, Wi-Fi hotspots, access points and Bluetooth/BLE.
  • Search-team coordination: pairing fixed monitoring with Hunter™ searches.

Features

  • Detects 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G phones using voice calls, data, SMS and also registration signals, TDD data transmissions, WiFi and Bluetooth.
  • Find switched-on phones even if they aren’t making a call
  • Get a detailed picture of illegal phone use
  • Easy to understand, intelligent system
  • Each Watchman detector is networked to a central monitoring console
  • View detected call occurrences, suspected call length, even the network operator (in selected territories)
  • Determine where and when to deploy security staff who can search for specific phones using our Hunter™ handheld phone detector
  • Alerts the security office in real time, reporting the date, time, duration of detection event, cell ID/location and frequency band of the detected signal
  • Download to PC for further analysis and recording
  • Future Proof – Software based to allow easy updates of new phone bands

FAQs

How does Watchman™ work?

Detectors installed around your facility are each networked to a central monitoring console, which alerts the security office in real time.

Can it detect phones that are not making a call?

Yes. Watchman™ detects registration signals, so it finds switched-on phones even when they are not making a call.

What information is reported for each detection?

The date, time, duration of the detection event, cell ID/location and frequency band of the detected signal. In selected territories it can also show the network operator.

How much area does each detector cover?

A single detector provides coverage for a single cell or multiple cells, up to 50 metres line of sight.

How are the detectors powered and connected?

Each detector connects to the console over Ethernet and is powered by the included 5V adapter or by PoE (Power over Ethernet).

Can I export the detection data?

Yes. A daily log file can be downloaded as a CSV file and exported via USB drive.

How are new frequency bands added?

Software updates are sent by email and uploaded into the monitoring console via Ethernet cable, a standard web browser or a USB drive.

Can Watchman™ pinpoint a phone?

Watchman™ shows where and when phones are detected, so you can deploy staff to search with a Hunter™ handheld detector.
